Property Verification

Checking Property Ownership in Pakistan Just Got Easier!

In the past, verifying who owns a property was a tedious process. There were no online systems, and people had to rely on Patwaris (land record officials). This old method was slow and susceptible to corruption.

Thankfully, the Pakistani government addressed these issues by launching online property and land record systems. While not available nationwide yet, Punjab and Sindh provinces now offer convenient online access. This guide will focus on how to check property ownership online in these provinces.

Punjab Land Records

The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) established an online system called the Land Records Management Information System (LRMIS). This allows anyone with property in Punjab to access records through their website. Here's how:

  1. Visit the Punjab Zameen official website: https://www.punjab-zameen.gov.pk/
  2. On the homepage, search for ownership details.
  3. Select the district where your property is located from the drop-down menu.
  4. Repeat for Tehsil and Area.
  5. Choose your search method: CNIC (national identity card number), name, or Khewat number (property number).
  6. Enter your chosen search criteria (e.g., CNIC number) and press enter.

Benefits of Punjab's LRMIS:

  • Faster property transfer (mutation) processing.
  • Convenient record access from anywhere.
  • Free service.
  • Secure records with bio-metric verification and NADRA integration.
  • No need to pay Patwaris for ownership verification.
  • Reduced corruption.

Sindh Land Records

Similar to Punjab, the Sindh Board of Revenue offers an online system for property owners in Sindh. Simply visit https://sindhzameen.gos.pk/SearchCNIC.aspx to check ownership details. The Sindh Board of Revenue manages all land and property matters within the province.

A Step Towards Efficiency

These online systems significantly improve the process of checking property ownership in Pakistan. Citizens can now access records from their homes, saving time and eliminating unnecessary interactions. This digitization of land records is a positive step, and hopefully, other provinces will follow suit soon.
